Can I get Laser Hair Removal if I have Epilepsy?▼
Epilepsy sufferers are advised to consult with their doctor about having Laser Hair Removal. An individual will need to obtain medical clearance from their doctor prior to starting treatment. At Laser Clinics United Kingdom, we also offer various options of protective eyewear to ensure your safety at all times during treatment.
Can I have Laser Hair Removal if I am on certain medications?▼
Certain medications can cause photo-sensitivity to the skin and this may affect the skin's reaction to the treatment. These medications are but not limited to oral and topical vitamin A's, antibiotics, and certain anti-depressants. It is best to speak with your medical professional and obtain medical clearance. After obtaining medical clearance, we are able to test patch you with the laser to determine it is safe to commence treatment.
Can I still get Laser Hair Removal if I am pregnant?▼
Based on current medical advice, we are unable to perform laser hair removal during the first trimester of pregnancy. We advise clients in the second or third trimester of pregnancy, to obtain mandatory medical clearance prior to proceeding with treatment.
Can I still get Laser Hair Removal if I am on birth control?▼
Yes - our Laser Hair Removal treatment is safe for individuals on birth control including oral contraceptive pills and IUD.
I have dark skin, can I get Laser Hair Removal?▼
At Laser Clinics we treat all skin tones with our medical grade laser hair removal technology, to achieve safe, effective results. Our Laser technicians use the Fitzpatrick Classification scale to determine your skin tone at consultation and select the most suitable setting for your laser hair removal treatment. Please be advised that your settings may change throughout your course to ensure optimal results.
What skin tones can get Laser Hair Removal?▼
Laser Hair Removal is suitable for all skin tones when the correct technology and settings are used for your skin type.
What body hair colour can be treated with Laser Hair Removal?▼
Unfortunately, we can not treat blonde, grey/white and some types of red hair with our Laser Hair Removal treatment. The light of the laser is only attracted to the melanin (pigment) of the hair hence these hair colours cannot be treated.
Treatment Areas & Options
Can I have Laser Hair Removal over the top of tattoos?▼
No, unfortunately, we cannot treat over tattoos with our laser. We can treat around the tattooed areas with a gap of 3cm.
Can I have my treatment when I am menstruating?▼
Yes - you can still have laser hair removal treatment while on your period. We advise you to wear a tampon or menstrual cup if you would like to have the Brazilian area treated.
Can I split Full Body treatments into separate areas across multiple appointments?▼
Yes, full body sessions can be divided into smaller appointments for comfort and convenience.
What is included in a Brazilian?▼
A Brazilian typically includes hair removal on the bikini line, labia, and perianal area. You can customise your preferred style (leave a strip or remove all).
What is included in a Full Body Laser Hair Removal treatment?▼
Full Body usually includes full legs, full arms, underarms, Brazilian/bikini, and may include back, stomach or face depending on your package.
What is the difference between the Buttocks and Behind treatment areas?▼
The Buttocks area is the outer cheeks of the bottom. The Behind (perianal) area is the crease and skin around the anus.
Sessions & Results
How long should I go in between Laser Hair Removal appointments?▼
Face: every 4 weeks.
Body: every 6–8 weeks.
This follows the natural hair growth cycle for the best results.
How often do I need to get Laser Hair Removal?▼
Most clients need 6–8 sessions per area. Occasional top-up sessions may be needed to maintain results long term.
When will I see results?▼
You may notice a reduction in hair growth after the first few sessions, with the most visible change usually after 4–6 treatments.
Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?▼
Laser Hair Removal offers long-term hair reduction. Some fine regrowth over time is normal and can be managed with maintenance sessions.
Comfort, Side Effects & Aftercare
Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?▼
Most clients describe it as a warm “elastic band snap”. Mild discomfort is normal, but sessions are generally well tolerated, especially with cooling technology.
Do hair supplements affect my treatment results?▼
Yes, hair growth supplements (such as biotin or hair vitamins) may reduce effectiveness. Please tell your practitioner if you take them.
Do you offer numbing for Laser Hair Removal?▼
Unfortunately, topical numbing creams are not safe nor effective when doing Laser Hair Removal. The sensation you feel in treatment is not felt on the skin, but in the follicle of the hair. Unfortunately numbing cream cannot penetrate deep enough to minimise discomfort that may be felt at the follicle. Please ensure that no occlusive creams are present on the treatment areas when undergoing laser hair removal treatments.
What are the side effects from Laser Hair Removal?▼
Mild redness, warmth or slight swelling is common and usually disappears within a few hours. More serious side effects are rare when aftercare is followed.
What do I need to do to prepare for my Laser Hair Removal appointment?▼
– Shave the treatment area 24 hours before.
– Do not wax, pluck or thread for 4 weeks before.
– Avoid sunbeds and tanning for at least 2 weeks.
– Do not apply fake tan, oils, perfumes or heavy creams on the day of treatment.
What is the aftercare for Laser Hair Removal treatments?▼
– Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, gym and swimming for 24–48 hours.
– Keep the area clean, cool and moisturised.
